Mr. Tesler, an associate professor of political science at the University of California,
Irvine, ... said he doesn’t put much blame on Mr. Obama’s actions for the increasingly
polarized racial attitudes in both parties. “He tries to insulate himself from the
politics of race, but despite that, many of his actions are perceived through a racial
prism,” Mr. Tesler said.
