- Social sciences earns coveted commencement spirit award; dean leads new students in first official “Zot!” at convocation
-----
We got the Zot! Award, that is. For those who may not be in the know, the Zot Award was established in 2010 to recognize the UCI school with the loudest zotting graduating class. Official measurements are taken at undergrad commencement when newly minted bachelor’s recipients deliver their final “Zot, zot, zot!” before entering the world as Anteater alums. The dean from the winning school is notified at new student convocation in fall where he/she gets to lead the in-coming Anteaters in their first UCI rally cry. We’ll give you one guess as to who that lucky high level university admin was (hint: name rhymes with Shmill Shmaurer). Check out video of the proud zotting moment and a photo of where the trophy currently resides. The pressure’s on now, though – only two schools have more than one award year under their belts, and only one with the same dean – and none are back to back. Can soc sci pull a repeat performance and clinch the trophy for 2016? You’ve been duly warned, seniors. Expectations will be high. ZOT!
