Workbook for the Global Connect
International Relations and Globalization Course
for High School Students 2008-2009
Global Connect @ UCI's semester tour around the
world includes weekly political map identification exercises that
provide students with the ability to recognize the location of the
world's 205 nations. These weekly exercises will allow
students to locate and name the nations of each continent and
significant regions.
A key and reoccurring theme of the International Studies and
Globalization Course is the concept of global citizen and the
ability of the individual or citizen based groups (NGOs) to directly
address global environmental, economic, social and political
challenges. To complete the map studies, the students will be
introduced to real heroes whose actions have impacted a variety of
geographic regions. These introductions will be made through
video interviews, feature stories and assigned readings.
