Join UCI in an Anteater celebration of the
2020 Lunar New Year
Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020 | 2:00-6:30 p.m.

Street Festival begins at 3:30 p.m.

Social & Behavioral Sciences Gateway Plaza

With an academic discussion, a lively multicultural street festival complete with a Disney-sponsored raffle (Disneyland Resort Park Hopper tickets and more - details below), and a closing sound and light show, this premiere event is not one to be missed!
Lunar New Year is possible through the generous support of the UC Irvine Long-U.S. China Institute and its partners the School of Social Sciences, School of Law and The Paul Merage School of Business in concert with the Claire Trevor School of the Arts, School of Humanities, School of Social Ecology, School of Education, and UCI Libraries.

2:00 p.m. | Lunar New Year & The Disney Dining Experience
MPAA Commons

How are certain foods reimagined in different cultural contexts? How do chefs conceive and create menus that represent diverse populations? At Disneyland, the design of the Lunar New Year menu is a strategic act, one that aims to produce inclusive and representative culinary offerings while also reflecting Orange County's own diverse communities and cuisines. For UC Irvine's Lunar New Year celebration, join the Long US-China Institute for a discussion on food, culture, and what it means to 'consume' Lunar New Year at the most popular theme park in the world.
