I study how humans perceive, remember, and retrieve information using a combination of behavioral testing and mathematical modeling. My research falls generally into three categories:

  • Memory in humans, with emphasis on forgetting and retrieval in explicit and implicit memory and in working memory.

  • Attentional processes in adult humans, and their consequences for perceptual efficiency and information processing, with emphasis on visual perception and memory.

  • The mechanisms of learning and improvement in perceptual tasks.
