Summer greetings from the School of Social Sciences! In the past you've received invitations to participate as Mock Trial judges from Carol Spencer. However, Carol is working for the business school at California State University, Fullerton and I'm currently coordinating development-related initiatives for the School of Social Sciences.

I am writing to you on behalf of our UCI Mock Trial Team - now ranked #1 in the country out of more than 600 teams, to ask if you will volunteer to judge at this year's UCI Tournament on Saturday and/or Sunday, November 17 and 18, 2012 at the Newport Beach Harbor Justice Center. There are four rounds of trials - Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning, and Sunday afternoon - and you can judge as many or as few as you like. No litigation experience is required - anyone with a JD is welcome to judge, and we'll cover all of the details during a quick PowerPoint presentation before the trial. And, of course, we'll provide food and parking.

This year's tournament includes UCLA, Penn, Berkeley, NYU, Brown, Duke, and of course UC Irvine. The reason we've been able to attract such outstanding teams from all over the country is the quality and quantity of our judges.

You can register online by clicking here - it takes less than a minute. Once you do, Rachel Richards, our student tournament director, will send you a confirmation email with all of the details (directions, parking, etc.).
