Research continues to uncover how and why we dream and what these dream may mean. … Another theory is by a Cognitive scientist Sara Mednick from the University of California, Irvine, who describes dream as a "safe space" to process intense emotions. Her research also found that when people dream about a distressing event, they retain the memory but feel less emotionally charged about it over time.
