Fall Greetings Charter Members of the Dean's Leadership Society!

We are off to a very busy and exciting academic year ahead, and I wanted to take a moment to share how delighted I am to have your support and engagement of the School of Social Sciences here at UC Irvine. Many thanks to those of you who joined us at Steve ('79) & Linda Borowski's beautiful home in Monarch Beach last week for our Fall Forecast event. It was a terrific gathering and everyone enjoyed remarks from Political Science faculty members Marty Wattenberg & Matt Beckmann who provided an update on the mid-term elections coming up around the corner.

That evening was a perfect venue to kick off our Charter member campaign. On that note, I was pleased to announce our two new Co-Chairs that have dubbed themselves my "Thelma & Louise" to help grow and enrich the Dean’s Leadership Society. Janice Cimbalo '87, Senior Vice President at Jones Lang LaSalle and Claudia Keller '87, Chief Program Officer for LA's Promise will be leading the charge – and I think you will find them both to be incredibly talented and passionate in their professional careers as well as their alma mater. As proud and quite distinguished alumnae, they will help our team take our new academic support group to the next level and help us meet our goal of recruiting 50 Charter members for our brick naming campaign by the end of next fiscal year. Alumni, faculty, staff, and community members alike will be drawn towards their warmth and leadership. They are both looking forward to the festivities surrounding Homecoming and the celebration of the 50th!

I encourage each of you to introduce yourselves to them at upcoming DLS programs, and share your thoughts and expertise on how we can continue to be a long term success in raising critical funds to help move the school forward. Below, please find a bio on each of them and if you wish to contact them, please feel free to send them a note: janice.cimbalo@am.jll.com and ckeller@laspromise.org
