Graduate Student Peer Mentoring Program

The UCI Sociology Graduate Student Peer Mentoring Program supports incoming students by creating opportunities to develop relationships with upper-year graduate students. Each incoming student (mentee) is paired with another student who is in his or her 2nd+ year (peer mentor). Mentors will be in contact with their mentees during the summer and throughout the first-year by email and meet periodically during the year. Peer Mentors share their knowledge and experience by providing insight into the Ph.D. program and acquaint mentees with professional opportunities and academic resources available to graduate students in the department. In September, the program hosts a Fall Welcome event to usher in the new academic year. In spring quarter, the program hosts a workshop on the second-year paper process.
