Our research is concerned with the role of the ground surface in the integration of information in 3-D scenes, including information from motion, occlusion and shadow. Currently, we are studying the perception of trajectories of moving objects and the role of the horizon in scene perception. The primary purpose of this research is to better understand human perception of the visual world, but it also has implications for AI vision and human factors applications such as automated highways and flight simulators.
