The Social Sciences Academic Resource Center's (SSARC) Speak Out Program is a series of skill-and practicum-based seminars provided for undergraduate students with an interest in developing their public speaking skills. Communication is a critical skill for anyone seeking to advance themselves in either the academic or professional setting, and the ability to speak with passion and charisma is a key characteristic of successful leaders. This quarter-long program brings together a select group of undergraduate students in a cohort-like atmosphere to provide a safe and educational environment to create and refine their own speaking personality and stage presence.
The purpose of this program is to train undergraduate students in the art of public speaking through a variety of workshops and activities that develop their ability to inform, influence, and entertain their audience, while encouraging self-confidence and self-efficacy as public speakers.
