Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a member?

Any student interested in the field of Industrial/Organizational Psychology should fill our membership electronic application located in the main page of the website. You will be notified about your enrollment status, within a week of the time you submit your application. You can refer to the membership link in the website for more information.

Are there any membership fees?

There is a required membership fee of $15. However, the membership fee all goes back to our members to provide food in our seminars, for our end of the year banquet, and other resources.

Can I become a member of the executive board?

Every general member of SIOP is able to apply for an executive board position. In order for our members to be stronger candidates, they are required to attend every meeting and be actively involved with SIOP during the academic year. We elect new executive board members during the spring quarter where we interview every single candidate and their qualifications.

Do I have to be a Psychology major in order to be a member of SIOP?

The field of Industrial/Organizational Psychology is a narrowed focus within the psychology field that students with an undergraduate psychology degree train for. Therefore this organization is mainly focused to students majoring or minoring in psychology. However our members come from different disciplines within the social sciences or business. We have members with a Business Economics major, Sociology major, and Business Administration major while also possessing a minor in psychology.
