RESEARCH EDUCATION
ADVANCEMENT
PROGRAM (REAP)
(back
to top)
The objective of this program is to introduce undergraduate
students to the theories, principles, and methods of
conducting quantitative and qualitative research in Social
Sciences. The program will acquaint students with general
issues involved in conducting research, including: ethics,
validity, reliability, and instrument construction. More
specifically, through a series of workshops and dialogues,
REAP will teach students about the various components of
research, including: conducting a literature review,
formulation of research questions, statement of hypotheses,
theory, selection of subjects, research design, and data
collection methods. Throughout the year and with
supervision, students will generate and develop their own
research interests and produce an original research proposal
in their field of specialization. The program will also
consist of three tiers that will facilitate student growth
through the different levels of research. The program will
allow students to become strong scientist-practitioners and
will result in a certification of research.
Research Awards Given to the School of Social Sciences
The School of Social Sciences offers several competitive
scholarships to students committed to academic excellence.
To be eligible for all of the following scholarships, you
must be a declared major within the School of Social
Sciences.
