POSITION: Temporary Part-Time Lecturer, Department of Chicano/Latino Studies

RECRUITMENT PERIOD: June 6, 2017 - October 31, 2017, or until filled.

DESCRIPTION: The Department of Chicano/Latino Studies is establishing a pool of qualified applicants to teach courses in Chicano/Latino Studies. Topics include: literature, arts, media, culture, history, society, labor, politics, law, gender, ethnicity, globalization, transnationalism, immigration, border issues, labor market participation, representation, and health outcomes in Chicano and Latino communities nationally and in Southern California.

Position(s) will be for the Winter 2018 and Spring 2018 quarters. The number of courses offered will depend on budget constraints and departmental needs. Candidates must possess an M.A., Ph.D., or other advanced degree and have research or teaching experience that can contribute to the quality of Chicano/Latino Studies course offerings through effective teaching in a culturally diverse classroom.

Rank: Lecturer

Salary Range: $5,400- $6,100

Requirements: Ph.D. Degree preferred, but we will consider Masters degree holders in the field of
Chicano/Latino Studies, ethnic studies, or related disciplines.

Position Available: Winter 2018 quarter and Spring 2018 quarter

November 15, 2016: Postdoctoral Researcher, Econometrics and Machine Learning Department of Economics, UC Irvine Prof. Matthew Harding, Deep Data Lab JEL Classification: C – Mathematical and Quantitative Methods

The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with Professor Matthew Harding on developing and implementing projects at the intersection of machine learning and econometrics. Some of the areas of interest are recent advances in deep learning and neural networks, causal inference, high-dimensional statistical modeling, and tensor methods. The position will provide an opportunity to publish collaborative research on Big Data methods using large proprietary panel datasets, such as massive transaction-level purchase data. The postdoctoral researcher will also have the opportunity to interact with faculty in Economics, Machine Learning and Computer Science.

The interdisciplinary Program in International Studies at the University of California, Irvine, invites applications for the position of Director of International Studies. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in Anthropology, Political Science or Sociology and will begin July 1, 2017. We welcome applicants in any of these disciplines who have a strong record of scholarship, teaching and administrative experience.
