- The article, "Emergent Coordinators in the World Trade Center Disaster" by Miruna Petrescu-Prahova and Carter Butts, was recently accepted for publication by the International Journal of Mass Emergencies and Disasters.
- Jody Agius Vallejo's paper, "Latina Spaces:
Middle-Class Ethnic Capital and Professional Organizations in the Latino Community," was selected as the Best Graduate Student Paper from the International Migration Section of the ASA.
- The article, "The Global Dimensions of Rape-Law Reform:
A Cross-National Study of Policy Outcomes,” by David Frank, Tara Hardinge, and Kassia Wosick-Correa, was recently accepted for publication in The American Sociological Review.
- Sharon Oselin's article, "Leaving the Streets: Transformation of Prostitute Identity through Rehabilitation," was recently accepted for publication in the journal Deviant Behavior.

- Francesca Polletta's 2006 book, "It Was Like a Fever:
Storytelling in Protest and Politics" (University of Chicago Press), after receiving the Outstanding Book Award from the Collective Behavior/Social Movements Section of the American Sociological Association in 2007, is again among the books listed as Honorable Mention for the Mary Douglas Prize for Best Book by the Culture Section of the American Sociological Association.
