Electronic Petitions
These forms replace paper petitions for requesting individual exceptions
to University policies as of Fall, 1997. Forms can be used for the
following matters:
- 190's Courses: Requesting enrollment in more than FIVE units of courses numbered 190-199 per quarter.
- Catalog Year Requirement: Requesting change of catalog year (affects graduation requirements).
- Course Substitution: Requesting one course to "count" towards fulfilling another course requirement (used for equivalent courses).
- Excess Units: Requesting permission to take over 20 units in any one quarter.
- Residency waiver: Requesting permission to take courses at another college or university.
within the last 36 units immediately preceding graduation.
- Other: Requests affecting completion of major or graduation requirements not covered above.
Separate petitions must be filed for each request.
The process is as follows:
- Fill out the following forms COMPLETELY, including the "Reason" box. All petitions must have a reason to be granted.
- Press the "submit" button. Petitions are automatically sent to the appropriate academic counselor for consideration.
- You will receive a copy of your petition via e-mail. If you do not receive this copy within 8 hours, contact the counseling office at 824-6803.
- Your petition will be processed, and a response will be e-mailed to you within five working days (usually one week).
- KEEP A PAPER COPY OF YOUR E-MAIL RESPONSE FOR YOUR RECORDS. This is your confirmation of actions taken.
