One child policy. In an effort to fix its overpopulation issues, China enacted an
extreme child-planning policy that lasted 35 years. Feng Wang, Ph.D. School of Social
Sciences, University of California, Irvine, [said]: “Women were forced to undergo
abortions, sterilization and when families tried to resist the policy, their houses
were torn down. … I think one of the main lessons learned is the danger for the government
to go so far into people’s bedrooms.”
