The tale of Scott Brooks’ rise from small-town boy to a popular NBA coach reads like a classic novel: Athletic, determined student – who also happens to be on the short side – from a large family held together by a hardworking single mom finds success in the NBA.   UCI gave me a great education and a platform to play at a high level.  If it wasn’t for UC Irvine giving me an athletic scholarship, I would never have been able to attend college.
