Payel Chowdhury, economics graduate student and Associated Graduate Students president, has recently been selected for a summer internship with the United Nations (UN) in New York City.

The full-time internship begins June 25 and runs through September 21 in New York City.

Approximately 3,000 graduate and post-graduate students compete for the roughly 300 coveted positions.

"I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to apply all that I have learned here at UCI to the real-world," Chowdhury says. "Being in the hub of New York City will be a new experience and one to which I am looking forward."

Chowdhury will be working in the Division of Public Administration and Development Management in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs where she will be able to apply her knowledge in economics to a wide range of UN projects.
