In 2009 Maayan Amir and Ruti Sela initiated Exterritory, an ongoing art project devoted to theoretical and practical examination of ideas concerning extraterritoriality i.e. being excluded or exempt from the standard system of law within a designated area. Comprising the creation of video art works, transdisciplinary collaborations, technoaesthetic interventions and public events, the project uses the notion of extraterritoriality to critique power structures and reimagine practical, conceptual, and poetic possibilities. Their works explore the intersection between the visual, political and legal. Exterritory attempts not only to articulate the ways in which violence exercised in the name of law is maintained through a regime of images or a set of restrictions imposed over the representation of such images, but also to confront the political, conceptual and representational limits that sustain this regime and protect it legally.

Light refreshments will be served.
