LAW JOURNAL EDITOR

Members of this seminar course are exposed to cutting edge legal issues and professional communication techniques while editing articles submitted for publication in the annual Law Forum Journal. Individual responsibility, teamwork and effective leadership are emphasized as well. Topics vary annually.

[Political Science 179/Social Science 189]

Regular participation accounts for the entirety of the grade in this course. Class members are required to attend class regularly, complete general editorial homework assignments, review and critique several legal research papers, and participate in the editorial completion of at least one article for Journal publication.

COURSE ENROLLMENT INFORMATION:

Prerequisites: Completion of "Political Science 71A: Introduction to Law" and the lower division writing requirement.

This course is ONLY open to members of the UCI School of Social Sciences Law Forum. Placement in this course is also subject to an interview process during the previous quarter. Enrollment by Instructor's Add Card only.

*Law Forum members receive email notification when the interview process begins.

COURSE SUBSTITUTION:

Forum members may petition to substitute one of the following for certificate purposes:

100+ hours of unpaid legal internship arranged through one of the following programs:
- Social Sciences Internship Program, or
- UC-DC Academic Internship Program.
Or, 100+ hours of unpaid legal internship arranged independently.

If planning to petition for substitution of this course, contact Law Forum Director before you begin to obtain topic approval.
Students who use an internship substitution for this requirement must submit documentation to the Law Forum Director upon completing the internship.
