Meshing Knowledge Structures
Jean-Claude Falmagne, Jean-Pail Doignon
The set of all items mastered by an individual in a specific topic
of information forms the knowledge state of that individual. The collection
of all knowledge states conceivable for a given population and topic constitutes
a knowledge structure. For various purposes, it is useful to combine knowledge
structures covering only a limited part of a domain, into bigger, more
comprehensive ones. This paper explores some aspects of such a combination,
in particular with regard to the transfer of combinatorial properties from
the pieces to the whole.
