PAUL H. SILVERMAN AWARD FOR 2008
The UCI Interdisciplinary Center for the Scientific Study of Ethics and Morality is pleased to announce
that
the 2008 Paul H. Silverman award is given to Ronald Miller. The Silverman Award is given each
year to someone who
reflects Paul Silverman's dedication to the scientific analysis of ethical issues.
The Silverman Committee found that "Ron has tirelessly committed himself
over the last two decades to promoting thoughtful discussion of ethical
issues on the UCI campus.
He has done this through many different venues --
his long running campaign to establish a
bioethics program at UCI, his
heading of the ethics program in the medical school, his creation and
shepherding of the BELDG (Bioethics Lunch Discussion Group) over the last
few years, and his
consistent support for the Center. Ron's public spiritedness and
direct interest in the intersection
of ethics and science seem a good match with Paul Silverman."
