Max Held (Sociology, Jacobs University Bremen, Germany, ’07) comes to UCI on a Fulbright Scholarship. “DASA constitutes the logical next step in my education; it combines a social scientific interdisciplinary outlook with a strong focus on empirical (quantitative) research.” |
Natalia Milovantseva (International Relations, UCI ‘07) worked with UCI researchers to publish an article on smoking and cervical cancer. “I wish to continue developing the idea of providing vaccination to women around the world. Knowledge of demographics is essential for successful targeting of the most vulnerable populations.” |

Scott Martin (History, Cal State Fullerton ’96) is Assistant Director, Center for Demographic Research, where he estimates the quarterly housing inventory of Orange County cities. “This 9-month program will further develop my methodological training in demography. I hope to gain insight not only on how things are done in government, but also why policies are completed the way they are." |
Emily Lee (Geography, University of Washington, ’03)
is a GIS analyst at the County of Riverside Transportation and Land Management Agency:
“Two of my colleagues are former DASA cohort members and are excellent examples of the quality of this program.” |

Twyla Forcadela (English, UCI ’00) works with administrative data at UCI. As the UCI population grows, she sees how “institutional researchers will
aid administrators in making critical decisions about the
future of the campus.” |
Wendy McMullin (Economics, Harvard '95) is Senior Consultant with Gallup. "I see my opportunity to apply my skills more meaningfully, impacting the world's thought leaders and decision makers.
I want to help Singapore identify the reasons why so many of its finest minds are leaving the country or assist South Africa in quantifying the lingering effects of apartheid." |
