The purpose of this scholarship is to promote the learning of
Chinese language and culture among American citizens through a
course of study at an accredited Chinese learning center in
Taiwan, ROC.
The term of the scholarship is from September 2001-August 2002.
The scholarship includes tuition fees and a monthly stipend of
NT $15,000 (about US $450).
The applications are due to Center for Asian Studies, SSPA, by Friday, 25 May
2001
2 One-year Chinese Language Fellowships
Any undergraduate or graduate student who will have achieved at
least a first-year competence in Mandarin Chinese by the end of
spring quarter 2001, has at least a 3.0 GPA, and is interested
in a one-year scholarship to study Chinese in one of nine
accredited Chinese learning centers, is invited to apply to the
Center for this scholarship competition. The application should
include a study plan explaining how Chinese language study
contributes to your educational and professional goals, 2
letters of recommendation from faculty, an official university
transcript, an HIV test result (within the past six months) and
a physicians health report from a recent physical examination.
