Drift-balanced random stimuli: A general basis for studying non-Fourier motion perception. Journal of the Optical Society of America A: Optics and Image Science, 1988, 5, 1986-2006. When the ordinate is taken as time, and the abscissa as the x-value of a one-dimensional stimulus, the figure represents time-slices of a drift-balanced motion stimulus. Alternatively, taking the coordinates as x,y, the figure represents a slant-balanced texture stimulus.
